During the previous week, 52 people tested positive for the virus, compared with 43 cases the week before.

1,527 samples were analyzed and of these, 3.2 percent were positive.

Most positive cases are found in the age group 20–29 years and the infection occurs mainly in social contexts, in the family and when traveling abroad.

- Infection increases from low levels, but the percentage increase is large.

Stay home when you are sick and get tested if you have symptoms of covid-19.

We must limit the spread of infection before it escalates, says Therese Thunberg, assistant epidemiologist.

The delta variant dominates

During the previous week, SVT Västerbotten reported that the infection control reckoned that the delta variant would dominate.

This week it has been established that this is the case.

- It was expected that the delta variant would take over, as it is more contagious than the previous variants.

To reduce the spread of infection, it is important to follow the national recommendations.

Avoid congestion in all contexts, including in shops and public transport.

Keep a distance when you meet people outside your immediate circle, and preferably meet outdoors.

Continue working from home if you can, says Therese Thunberg.
