The Moroccan government announced a package of new measures that include a night curfew in the country and a ban on movement to and from three major cities that will start on Tuesday, while Iran recorded the highest daily death toll since the outbreak of the pandemic last year.

The Moroccan government decided to prevent movement to and from the cities of Casablanca (north), Marrakesh (south) and Agadir (central), with the exception of people who have a certificate of vaccination passport.

Persons with urgent medical conditions, who are charged with transporting goods and merchandise, as well as workers in the public and private sectors who hold a mission order document signed and sealed by their superiors at work, are also excluded.

The government also decided to close restaurants and cafes at nine in the evening, and to close bathrooms, gyms and swimming pools.

And it imposed that the number of gatherings and activities in indoor and open spaces should not exceed 25 people, with the obligation to obtain a license from the local authorities in case this number exceeds.

To limit the spread of the new epidemic of #Corona, the government decides to take a set of measures starting tomorrow, Tuesday, at 9 pm:

- Banning night movement nationally from 9 pm to 5 am.

It also decided that hotels and other tourist establishments should not exceed 75 percent of their capacity, and ban parties, weddings and funerals.

The statement explained that these measures come "in view of the very large increase" in the number of injuries and deaths caused by the epidemic in the recent period, as the daily toll of injuries reached a record level, exceeding nine thousand Friday, without dropping from the two thousand a week ago.

And last week, the World Health Organization expressed its concern about the high number of infections with the Corona virus in 15 countries, extending from Morocco to Pakistan, due to the mutated Delta.

In late May, Morocco eased the night curfew and other precautionary measures that lasted for several months.

It also gradually reopened its borders in early June to international flights for travelers with conditions.

Iran records the highest daily rate

Meanwhile, Iran recorded a record number of daily infections with the Corona virus, which exceeded 37,000 for the first time on Monday, according to the Ministry of Health, as well as a record daily death toll within three months.

A spokeswoman for the Ministry of Health, Sima Al-Sadat Lari, said during a press conference in the capital, Tehran, that 37,189 new infections with the Corona virus were recorded, the highest daily toll since the outbreak of the pandemic last year.

Larry added that 37,189 cases of the virus were recorded during the past 24 hours;

Which brings the total to 3,940,708.

Larry indicated that the deaths caused by the virus amounted to 411 deaths during the past 24 hours;

For a total of 91,407 deaths.

The number of daily injuries announced by the Iranian authorities, on Monday, exceeded the previous record number recorded by the country, last Tuesday, and it amounted to 34,951 injuries.

Iran is fighting a fifth wave of Corona, following the spread of the highly contagious delta mutant, which began spreading in the southern parts of the country last June.

Officials attribute the recent rise in the number of deaths and injuries to lax respect for health protocols and the spread of the highly contagious delta mutant.

At least 10.29 million people have received the first dose of the Corona vaccine in Iran, while nearly 2.8 million have received the two doses of the vaccine in the country, according to the Ministry of Health.

Germany towards a third dose of the vaccine

For its part, the German Ministry of Health said Monday that it will propose to start vaccinating the elderly and the most vulnerable groups with additional booster doses of Covid vaccines from September 1, as well as for people who have not received a vaccine that uses “RNA” technology (messenger DNA) against Corona Virus.

The ministry announced that "the additional doses will be with one of the two vaccines that adopt the "RNA" technology, namely (Virus/Biontech or Moderna)," and that this decision "falls within the framework of preventive health care."

The ministry said that it is based on recent studies that prove that "the immune response becomes less or declines rapidly after completing the vaccination against Covid-19" in some groups, "especially the elderly and people with weak immune systems."

From September, mobile vaccination teams will be sent to nursing homes, assisted integration institutions and other vulnerable settings to deliver boosters of Moderna and Pfizer.

Physicians will be asked to do the same for immunocompromised patients.

The booster dose will be given "at least six months after" the first vaccination has been completed completely, regardless of the type of vaccine that was used during it.

Another group, who have been vaccinated with AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson, are also recommended to receive an additional booster dose, and will be given an additional dose of the mRNA vaccine (Firez/Biontech or Moderna).

According to these labs, an additional dose provides enhanced immune protection, especially with the spread of the most infectious delta mutant.

Some countries have adopted the booster vaccine principle, and in others, the topic is being discussed.

Since mid-July, Israel has started giving a third dose of vaccines against COVID-19 to patients with weakened immunity in light of the high incidence of Coronavirus due to the delta mutant.

Although Germany recorded a relatively low number of injuries compared to its neighbors, the numbers began to rise in recent weeks, which raises fears of a new epidemic wave in the country.

Biden: America is ready to deal with the rise in injuries

In the United States, US President Joe Biden said that his country is ready to deal with the unprecedented high number of infections with the Corona virus.

He added in a tweet via "Twitter" that the United States is now able to save lives and maintain economic growth, unlike what happened a year ago, calling on Americans to receive the vaccine.

For his part, White House health advisor Anthony Fauci said that he does not believe that the United States will implement closure measures again, even if the situation “deteriorates” due to “the outbreak of the epidemic among the unvaccinated.”

In China, the authorities imposed a closure on millions of residents, while trying to contain the largest outbreak of “Covid” in months, by conducting large-scale examinations and imposing travel restrictions.

The Australian army also deployed on the streets of Sydney to ensure the implementation of the prolonged closure announced by the city, while quarantine orders were extended in Brisbane, the third largest Australian city, to contain the outbreak of Covid-19.

In another development, Formula One star Lewis Hamilton admitted he may still be suffering from the effects of the virus he contracted in December, after feeling dizzy at the end of the Hungarian Grand Prix last weekend.
