Several rave parties took place in France this weekend in different departments, following a call to make a "Night of riots" on social networks.

Europe 1 takes stock of the reasons that prompted thousands of revelers to gather from Isère to Calvados.

DECRYPTION

The call to organize rave parties all over France was heard this weekend.

Gatherings took place in several departments of the territory, with each time between 200 and more than 1,000 participants.

This call was made on social networks.

It aimed to pay tribute to Steve Maia Caniço, this young man of 24 years who died in 2019 in Nantes during a police intervention at the Fête de la musique which took place in this city.

Thousands of people in Isère

In Isère, around 6,000 people came to celebrate in a former ZAD north of the town of Saint-Marcellin.

It was the neighbors who alerted the police, surprised to see more than 1,000 vehicles coming to park in the forest.

A thousand revelers also gathered in Honfleur, in Calvados, under the Normandy bridge.

And similar scenes took place in several towns in Brittany and Vendée.

As well as in Mayenne, Côte d'Or and Gironde.

This "Night of riots", as the participants called it, was also intended to fight against the ban on rave parties and their sometimes violent evacuation.

This was recently the case in Redon, in Ille-et-Vilaine, where a youngster lost a hand last June.

Open investigations

Investigations are now open to determine the responsibilities of the organizers of these rave parties.
