The federal states want to offer a booster vaccination for the very elderly, those in need of care and immunocompromised patients with mobile teams in care facilities and facilities for integration assistance from September onwards.

Elderly patients who live at home should receive their booster vaccinations through their general practitioners.

All citizens who have been fully vaccinated at least five months ago can receive a third vaccination in the vaccination centers or from general practitioners and company doctors.

This emerges from the draft resolution for the conference of federal and state health ministers (GMK) on Monday.

The booster vaccinations will only be given with one of the two mRNA vaccines, regardless of what the patient was previously vaccinated with.

In addition, vaccinations for 12 to 17 year old children and adolescents are to be offered in the vaccination centers with immediate effect.

A medical explanation as well as the consent of the guardians will be ensured.

However, children and young people can also be vaccinated by resident doctors and as relatives of employees of company doctors.

"Decisive for a safer start after summer vacation"

The health ministers are thus disregarding the current recommendation of the Standing Vaccination Commission (STIKO), which recommends vaccination only for children and adolescents who suggest an increased risk of a severe course of Covid 19 disease. For young adults in universities, vocational schools and schools, the federal states should make structured, low-threshold offers at the respective learning locations. "This can make a significant contribution to a safer start to teaching and learning after the summer holidays," says the draft resolution that is available to the FAZ.

In France, for the third weekend in a row, more than 200,000 people have demonstrated their displeasure with the mandatory vaccination requirement for health workers and stricter proof requirements from August 1st. They accused President Emmanuel Macron and the government of a "health dictatorship".
