It is the fifth day since the 28th of last month (3,177) that Tokyo's daily confirmed cases exceeded 3,000.



In Tokyo, the number of new confirmed cases has been on the rise since the middle of last month.



The average daily number of infections for 7 days until today was 3,105, a 2.1-fold increase compared to a week ago.



New infections are concentrated in young people who are less likely to become seriously ill.



By age, the number of confirmed cases was 1,146 in their 20s, 634 in their 30s, 433 in their 40s, and 323 in their 50s.



Meanwhile, the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Organizing Committee announced that a total of 18 event officials, including one athlete, tested positive today.



With this, the total number of Olympic-related infections has increased to 259 since the 1st of last month, when the organizing committee started announcing the new infection status every day.
