"Drag Break" receives more than 50,000 visitors during the Eid Al-Adha holiday
Engineer Ayman Rashid Al Naqbi, Director of the Department of Planning and Survey - Khorfakkan Branch, announced that the latest tourism project in the city of Khorfakkan, the "Drag Break", which was inaugurated by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, recently received more than 50,000 visitors during the Eid Al-Adha holiday. .
In an exclusive interview with the Emirates News Agency, WAM, Al-Naqbi said that the choice of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah for the resting place on one of the mountain peaks in the city of Khorfakkan came due to the charming panoramic view from this summit on the city from a height of 600 meters above sea level, noting that the rest consists of A circular building with a diameter of 30 meters and two floors with a total area of 2788 square meters, while the area of the first floor is 497 square meters and includes a restaurant and a cafe that can accommodate 88 people in the inner hall and 48 in the outer balcony, while the basement contains a multi-purpose hall that accommodates 62 people.
He pointed out that there are 5 future development areas on the resting road and at different levels, the first level is located at an altitude of 110 meters above sea level, the second at an altitude of 200 meters, the third at an altitude of 240 meters, the fourth at a height of 375 meters, and finally the fifth level is located at an altitude of 470 meters from Sea level, noting that the development plan for these levels includes the establishment of various services such as restaurants and cafes, in addition to the provision of 309 parking lots serving the main rest area.
Regarding the economic and tourism importance of the project, Al-Naqbi said, "The rest stop is now considered one of the most prominent new tourist and entertainment destinations in the city of Khorfakkan, and it has contributed greatly along with other projects such as the Khorfakkan Amphitheater and Waterfall, the development of the Corniche area, Khorfakkan Square, the Resistance Monument, Al Rabi Tower, Al Adwani Tower, Sheis Park and Najd Al-Maqsar Village." Attracting a large number of visitors during feasts and official holidays as well as on ordinary days.
He noted that these new projects inaugurated by His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah during the past two years only doubled the number of visitors to the city of Khorfakkan, and this had the greatest impact in supporting the social and economic development train in the region and provided many job opportunities for the people of the region, as many new projects were opened to meet the needs of The increasing number of tourists from inside and outside the country.
Regarding the mountain paths that will be included in the project, Al-Naqbi explained that the mountain paths, especially in this area, are of great importance and attract many mountaineering lovers, so the idea of linking the break with two mountain paths leading to the clouds break came. The first path was inaugurated by His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah recently, which is It is a mountain track that extends from the drag restroom to the Rafisah Dam parking lots, with a length of 3000 metres. The second track, which is currently being worked on, is a mountain path extending from the drag restroom to the Jabal Sheikh Tower, with a length of 2,800 metres.
For his part, Eng. Majed Khaled Al Hammadi, Head of Projects Department at the Department of Planning and Survey, referred to the green spaces of the rest stop, pointing out that the surrounding area was planted with 7000 saplings of the Bougainvillea tree, 500 saplings of the beansetum tree, 1,000 seedlings of the Shua tree, and 200 seedlings of the canna tree.
He explained that the ascending road to the rest stop is 6.5 km long and includes two lanes for going up and down, and the road slopes range between 3 percent and 9.7 percent, and it is equipped for the use of buses. And limit its top speed to 60 km.
He noted that as for the public services in the drag lounge, it includes elevators for visitors and services, service facilities for men and women, as well as two worshipers, one for men and the other for women, in addition to allocating a children's play area with an area of 541 square meters, as well as indoor and outdoor balconies, and 89 parking spaces next to the lounge.
Al Hammadi stressed that the authorities supervising the rest stop take all precautionary measures to preserve the safety of everyone, calling on all visitors to cooperate with the organizers and supervisors, both in the rest building and the roads leading to ensuring the smooth flow of movement and avoiding traffic jams.
