[International sharp comment] The US bill clamoring for "stand up and attend the conference" is just for self-entertainment

The US Senate Foreign Relations Committee recently passed a Taiwan-related bill requiring the State Department to formulate strategies to assist Taiwan in "regaining its status as an observer to the World Health Assembly."

This is the latest attempt by some people in the US to use the epidemic to interfere in China’s internal affairs. It is an attempt to "use the epidemic to seek independence" with the Taiwan authorities. Expressed firm opposition to this.

As in the past, the "epidemic card" played by the United States and Taiwan will not play any role except to cheer each other up and entertain themselves.

This so-called Taiwan-related bill mentions that Taiwan has not been invited to participate in the World Health Assembly as an observer for many consecutive years since 2017.

Is the reason for this unclear to the US congressmen?

The Taiwan region is a province of China, and its participation in the activities of international organizations such as the World Health Organization must be handled in accordance with the one-China principle.

This is the fundamental principle confirmed by UN General Assembly Resolution 2758 and World Health Assembly Resolution 25.1.

From 2009 to 2016, Taiwan's participation in the WHO Conference under the name of "Chinese Taipei" and as an observer was a special arrangement made through consultation on the basis of the "1992 Consensus" that both sides of the strait adhere to the principle of one China.

However, since the Democratic Progressive Party of Taiwan came to power in 2016, it has refused to recognize the "92 Consensus" and stubbornly pursued "Taiwan independence". The political basis for Taiwan's participation in the WHO Conference no longer exists.

For this reason, since 2017, the World Health Assembly has continuously refused to include the so-called “invite Taiwan to participate in the WHO Assembly as an observer” proposal on the agenda of the Assembly.

This shows that the one-China principle is an international common sense and should not be challenged.

However, some U.S. congressmen are unwilling to "stand up for Taiwan and participate in the conference" and attempt to run into a wall, especially in the context of seeing China as their biggest strategic competitor, and they have stepped up their use of Taiwan as a pawn.

In fact, the US Senate Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Menendez, who took the lead in proposing this Taiwan-related bill, threatened that "the United States must do more to support Taiwan's international participation, especially in the World Health Organization."

This completely exposed the US intention to use Taiwan as a political tool.

Menendez claimed that Taiwan’s failure to obtain WHO observer status would “endanger the international community”, especially as the world strives to get rid of the epidemic.

This rhetoric is intended to cast the so-called "international morality" color for the naked US intervention in China's internal affairs.

But in fact, since the outbreak of the new crown epidemic, the Chinese central government has made proper arrangements for Taiwan’s participation in global health affairs under the premise of the one-China principle, and its concern for the health and well-being of Taiwan compatriots is obvious to all.

According to incomplete statistics, since 2020, medical technology experts from Taiwan, China have participated in 16 WHO technical activities.

Taiwan also has a contact point for the International Health Regulations, has an account to log on to the WHO event information website, and has joined the WHO's "New Coronary Pneumonia Vaccine Implementation Plan."

Under such circumstances, the United States and Taiwan will not deceive the international community at all if they talk about the epidemic.

Playing the "epidemic card" is only part of the recent US-Taiwan collaboration.

People have noticed that from the United States pushing for Taiwan-related legislation, to the repeated erroneous remarks made by US officials on Taiwan-related issues, to the downfall of US military planes, the dangerous provocations of the United States are constantly putting Taiwan at risk.

Some Taiwanese netizens said bluntly that the United States was using Taiwan as a "bargaining chip."

As for the fate of this bargaining chip, it was never in Uncle Sam's consideration.

The Taiwan issue concerns China's core interests.

If there is provocation, China has the right to take any necessary measures to stop it.

If the US frequently "cuts sausages" on the Taiwan issue and continues to send wrong signals to the "Taiwan independence" forces, it will only cut its own hands in the end.

No one should underestimate the Chinese people's determination, determination and strong ability to defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity!
