The demand for cans is something that breweries around the world have a hard time meeting, says Erika Danckwardt-Lillieström, vice president at Sweden's breweries.

- The volumes have simply moved and then changed packaging.

This is a global problem, she says.

Local brewery affected

One of all breweries affected by the shortage of cans is Oppigårds outside Hedemora.

- It took several months into the pandemic before they realized what was happening.

We have had challenges in meeting demand.

But it has still gone relatively well, we have had to rethink, says the brewery's CEO Arvid Runéus and adds:

- Then I will be honest and say that in pure numbers, this shift from consumption of alcohol in nightclubs to Systembolaget has been good for us.

In pure numbers, our sales have increased.

Arvid Runéus from the brewery tells what they need to do and what their financial future looks like if the can crisis continues in the clip.
