Today, Friday, the Israeli occupation forces attacked the funeral procession of the martyr Shawkat Awad in the town of "Beta Ummer" in the northern occupied West Bank.

And the occupation forces fired rubber-coated metal bullets, sound bombs, tear gas, and massive sewage water towards thousands of citizens who went out for the funeral of the martyr.

Shaukat Awad was martyred yesterday, Thursday, from being hit by live bullets in the head and stomach at the hands of the occupation forces.

Clashes erupted between dozens of Palestinians and the Israeli occupation army today, Friday, in separate locations in the northern West Bank.

Eyewitnesses said that the Israeli army fired live bullets, metal bullets, and tear gas canisters at hundreds of Palestinians after Friday prayers, near Jabal Sabih in the town of Beita, south of Nablus.

Palestinian youths threw stones at the Israeli occupation forces, and set rubber tires on fire.

For several months, Beita has witnessed almost daily protests, refusing to establish a settlement outpost on private Palestinian land located on Mount Sabih.

Although the Israeli army evacuated the settlers from the outpost on July 2, the Palestinians continued their protests, refusing to keep it under Israeli military control, and demanding the return of the lands to their owners.

In recent weeks, 5 Palestinians from the town of Beita were martyred, and dozens were wounded, most of them with live bullets, in confrontations with the occupation forces.

Similar confrontations erupted in the towns of Kafr Qaddum, east of Qalqilya (north), and Beit Dajan, east of Nablus.

Israeli and Palestinian estimates indicate that there are about 650,000 settlers in the West Bank settlements, including occupied Jerusalem, who live in 164 settlements and 116 outposts.
