Tang Yingjie, the first man accused of violating Hong Kong’s National Security Law, was previously ruled by the Hong Kong High Court and was convicted of inciting others to secession and terrorist activities.

The High Court issued a sentence on the 30th and sentenced Tang Yingjie to immediate imprisonment for 9 years, part of the sentence being executed in installments.

  On July 1, 2020, Tang Yingjie drove a motorcycle in Wan Chai with a flag with the slogan "Hong Kong Independence" stuck in the car, dashed across three police defense lines and caused serious physical injuries to three police officers.
