During a speech at the court session, the leader of the OPSO denied all accusations of prosecutors and said that the SBU officers illegally carried out investigative actions and fabricated the case and evidence.
“On the instructions of President Zelensky and his team, back in 2019, the SBU began illegal, criminal actions against the deputies of the faction ... The SBU, then supported by the prosecutor’s office, did everything to make the case materials fabricated, with evidence that is inadmissible, become the subject of consideration and in the court of first instance, and today it is the subject of consideration in the Kiev Court of Appeal, ”Medvedchuk said.
He called the activities of the SBU a criminal prosecution of the opposition and political repression.
On July 9, a court in Kiev extended round-the-clock house arrest to Viktor Medvedchuk, head of the political council of the Opposition Platform - For Life party, who is suspected of treason and plundering national resources in Crimea, until September 7.
The PLOJ called the trial of Medvedchuk a political spectacle.
