Following the spread of the new coronavirus, the government has decided to add areas covered by the state of emergency and extend the deadline.

The issue is how much public understanding and cooperation can be obtained with the desire to curb the spread of infection by promoting vaccination of younger generations and reducing the flow of people.

As a countermeasure against the new coronavirus, the government added four prefectures, Saitama, Chiba, Kanagawa, and Osaka, to the target areas of the state of emergency from August 2 to 31, and in line with this, Tokyo and Okinawa We have decided to extend the deadline for the declaration.

We have also decided to apply priority measures such as prevention of spread to the five prefectures of Hokkaido, Ishikawa, Hyogo, Kyoto, and Fukuoka.

Prime Minister Suga said on the night of the 30th, "Until the end of August, we will do our utmost to take measures with the determination that this declaration will be the last," and repeatedly called on the people to cooperate.

The government says that the effect of vaccination is that the proportion of elderly people among infected people is decreasing and the severity of the disease is suppressed even though the highly infectious mutant virus is spreading rapidly.

On the other hand, since the number of severely ill people in their 40s and 50s is increasing, we plan to actively promote vaccination of younger generations and utilize new therapeutic agents to prevent the aggravation. ..

At the same time, the people want to curb the spread of infection by thoroughly taking measures against infection at restaurants, including the suspension of alcoholic beverages, and calling for refraining from going out unnecessarily and reducing the flow of people. The issue is how much understanding and cooperation can be obtained.
