There are over 1,100 sites in the world that are classified as UNESCO World Heritage Sites and new ones are selected every year.

Buildings, cities or environments that are considered worthy of protection for all eternity.

A total of 33 new sites have been selected at this summer's World Heritage Conference - which this year was largely held digitally.

In Sweden, there are 15 listed world heritage sites from the City of War in Karlskrona in the south to Struve's meridian arc in the north.

But this year no new Swedish places came in - even though there were more than usual.

Getting World Heritage status gives some privileges and the road there is a long process. The head of the unit, Alessandro Balsamo at Unesco, explains more in the clip below.
