Japan, where the Olympics are being held, the number of confirmed cases of Corona has exceeded 10,000 a day.

So the Japanese government has decided to increase the number of areas where the state of emergency is issued, but local experts say stronger measures are needed.

Let's connect Tokyo.

Correspondent Yoo Seong-jae, the Japanese government held a countermeasure meeting today (30th) and decided to expand the state of emergency.

Nearly 11,000 new infections were reported across Japan for two days in a row, of which more than 60% were confirmed in the metropolitan area, including Tokyo.

It is clear that more than 3,000 new infections in Tokyo are spreading to neighboring municipalities every day.

So, at a government countermeasure meeting a while ago, we decided to extend the state of emergency. Listen to Prime Minister Suga.

[Suga/Prime Minister of Japan: Mutant infections are rapidly replacing existing infections, so if the number of infected continues to increase, there may be a shortage of hospital beds.]

The areas where a new state of emergency is issued are three municipalities in the metropolitan area, including Kanagawa, and 1,000 people a day. Osaka is where the number of confirmed cases continues to rise.

The period is from the 2nd to the 31st of the next month, and the state of emergency in Tokyo and Okinawa has also been extended to the same period.

The current Japanese government measures are insufficient to prevent the corona virus. This is the opinion of experts. If so, what additional measures are needed?

It is not effective to expand the state of emergency little by little.

Today, 3,300 new confirmed cases in Tokyo have reached 3,000 for two days in a row.

Among them, about 70% are younger than 30 years of age. Even if infected, the severity of the infection is lower than that of the elderly, and as the fatigue from emergency situations spreads, the vigilance has loosened a lot.

Nine professional groups, including the Japanese Medical Association, have requested the government to reduce movement between local governments by issuing a state of emergency throughout Japan.

Even within the Japanese government, there are even self-help theories that it is difficult to reduce the floating population in the city center by issuing a state of emergency while the Olympics are in progress.
