- It was ten, twelve years ago when it was difficult to get people to take courses at schools, but since then it has really risen so now we have a queue list every year, says Börje Wessman, accordion teacher and course coordinator.

There are two week-long courses held every summer at Värnamo Folk High School.

70-80 people get a place in the courses led by four to five accordion educators.

Börje Wessman started the summer courses over 30 years ago.

At first they lived in Arvika, where Börje worked as an accordion teacher.

But since 2005 the courses have been held in Värnamo.

Interested participants come from all over Sweden.

One of them is Lisbeth Berglind from Anderstorp.

- I think it is thanks to Bengan Jansson and Benny Andersson's orchestra, where you see that people can play a lot of different kinds of music on accordion, and I think that can be very good, says Lisbeth Berglind.

Accordion and joy belong together, the participants in the course think.

Isn't it mostly older people who play accordion music?

- There will be a new type of music, world music from all sides and Swedish folk music, there are more young people playing.

So I think there are younger ones but they are not visible everywhere, explains Kajsa Holmberg from Karlstad.
