Dubai Electricity and Water Authority renewed its invitation to customers to ensure that there are no leaks in the internal water connections in order to prevent wastage of water or any damage to property.

The authority pointed out the need to conduct a periodic and continuous examination of potential leakage sites to preserve natural resources.

She stated that water tanks, bathrooms, kitchens and swimming pools are among the most likely places for leakage, as it can occur from the tank as a result of damage to it, or from the connection pipes, or the wrong installation of the tank, or from taps and pipe connections due to obsolescence and lack of maintenance, or from the toilet tank, or a water heater.

The presence of water spots on the floors, walls and ceiling of the house or around the washing machine is one of the most prominent indicators of the possibility of a leak.

The presence of water spots outside the home may indicate water leakage from pipes and external connections or from the home irrigation network.

The “high water consumption notification” service provided by the authority is the best way to monitor water leaks, as it informs the customer immediately through notices of high rates of water consumption, which may be caused by a leak in the water connections so that the customer can speed up the necessary maintenance work and contribute to making Dubai is greener.

Leaks can also be monitored through the DEWA bill or smart water meters.

The authority confirmed the efficiency of its systems in detecting any defect in the external connections before the meter, while the authority’s scope of responsibility is limited to connections and maintenance up to the meter only, and the responsibility for the internal connections after the meter rests with the customer, and this includes the residential, commercial and industrial sectors.
