China News Service, Beijing, July 29 (Reporter Liang Xiaohui) In response to the passage of the Taiwan-related bill by the US Senate, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian pointed out at a regular press conference on the 29th that it seriously violated the one-China principle and the three Sino-US alliances. The communiqué stipulates that China firmly opposes it.

A reporter asked questions. According to reports, the US Senate Foreign Affairs Committee reviewed and approved a motion on the 28th to "request the US Secretary of State to formulate a strategy to regain Taiwan's observer status with the World Health Organization."

What is China's comment?

Zhao Lijian pointed out that the Taiwan issue is the most important and sensitive issue in Sino-US relations, and the one-China principle is the political foundation of Sino-US relations and is also the universal consensus of the international community.

The relevant bills of the US Congress seriously violate the one-China principle and the provisions of the three Sino-US joint communiqués, as well as the basic principles confirmed by UN General Assembly Resolution 2758 and WHO Resolution 25.1. China firmly opposes this.

Zhao Lijian emphasized that the Chinese central government attaches great importance to the health and well-being of Taiwan compatriots and has made proper arrangements for Taiwan’s participation in global health affairs under the premise of the one-China principle.

The relevant parties in the United States should fully recognize the high sensitivity of the Taiwan issue, strictly abide by the one-China principle and the three Sino-US joint communiqués, abide by international law and the basic norms of international relations, stop advancing the review of negative Taiwan-related bills, and stop advocating for "Taiwan independence." The forces sent the wrong signal to stop helping Taiwan expand the so-called "international space."
