July 29, 2021 Everything is ready at the Colosseum, where the opening ceremony of the G20 Culture will take place at 7 pm on the arena of the Flavian Amphitheater. The interventions of the Prime Minister, Mario Draghi, of the Minister of Culture, Dario Franceschini, of the Director General of Unesco, Audrey Azouley, and of the director of the Egyptian Museum of Turin, Christian Greco, are expected.

This is the first ministerial culture of the G20, which Italy leads as the current president in 2021 under the banner of "Culture unites the world". In essence, explains Franceschini, "It will be a great opportunity, not only for Italy, but for the cultural agenda of the G20. Culture has many important functions, it has an economic function because it creates growth, wealth and jobs, but above all it can be a formidable instrument of dialogue between peoples, we have invested a lot in this ".

Our country has strategically chosen to put culture at the center of its Presidency, considering the importance of this sector in Italy. Evaluation strengthened by the awareness that culture is the keystone for the post-pandemic restart. These are the priorities reflected in the Rome Declaration of the G20 Ministers of Culture, which will be approved at the end of the works: protection and promotion of culture and creative sectors as engines for sustainable and balanced growth; protection of cultural heritage against risks, digital transition and new technologies for culture, enhancement of training, tackle climate change. The strongly symbolic choice of the Colosseum, a place full of history and testimonies, will contribute, according to Franceschini, to giving "aextraordinary image "of the event which will continue tomorrow.

Tonight the delegations will attend a concert by the 'Luigi Cherubini' Orchestra conducted by Maestro Riccardo Muti at the Quirinale Palace. Subsequently, for dinner, the ministers will go to the opposite Palazzo della Consulta, the seat of the Constitutional Court since 1956.
