Almost exactly one year ago, on 10 August 2020, a heavy downpour fell over Ljungby which led to flooding in an industrial area.

One of the affected properties was a paddle hall where Tobias Hultbäck is one of the owners.

- Then we had to change all the courses in the whole hall, he says.

Now, a year later, the paddle hall has been flooded again for the same reason.

The stormwater wells, for which the municipality is responsible, could not handle the water masses.

- Because it is so close when it happened earlier, I just became empty, says Tobias Hultbäck.

Claimed damages

After the downpour last summer, 16 property owners joined forces to claim damages from the municipality, as their drains and wells flooded.

- The municipality is responsible for the municipal network and it has not been able to handle the scope.

It is clear that the municipality has a responsibility, said lawyer Roger Lindholm, who represented the 16 property owners at the time.

Ljungby municipality began an investigation, but it is currently not complete.

Large loss of income

This summer, the water entered through cracks in a door, and rushed from there into the paddle hall.

Two tracks were covered in water.

Now these tracks must be kept closed.

- This will be a fairly large loss of income for us, says Tobias Hultbäck.
