One of Gothenburg's largest gang-related criminal investigations has been decided.

On Thursday, the Gothenburg District Court announced several long prison sentences for the 16 who were charged.

Four are sentenced to life in prison.

The men are sentenced for, among other things, aiding and abetting murder and preparation for murder.

That no one is convicted of murder is due to the fact that the prosecutors have not been able to show which two fired the shots.

One of the lifers is 29-year-old Sebastian Jobe.

In the investigation, he was singled out as the leader of the criminal network in southern Biskopsgården.

Police sources to SVT Nyheter also confirm that Sebastian Jobe has played a leading role.

Many years of conflicts and phalanx battles

According to the prosecutor, he primarily planned the murder together with one of the other men sentenced to life.

The district court writes in the judgment that he "through his leading position" in the network and his actions has been a driving force and promoted or strengthened the perpetrators in their actions.

Lawyer Thomas Olsson represents Sebastian Jobe.

He calls the verdict "surprising" and tells DN that the life sentence will be appealed.

The network, to which several of the convicts are considered to belong, is called by both the media and the police for the A-phalanx in Södra Biskopsgården.

The murdered 33-year-old originally belonged to the same gang.

But after friction arose, the gang split in 2016 into two new phalanxes: the A and B phalanx.

- When it became clear who the murder victim was, the police directed suspicions against the criminal network in Biskopsgården, which for several years had a conflict with the murder victim and his relatives, chamber prosecutor Helena Treiberg Claeson told SVT Nyheter before the trial.

Felt threatened

According to the prosecutor and several police officers heard, the acts have a clear connection to ongoing conflicts between the groups.

According to the prosecutor, several previous shootings, arson and thrown grenades can be linked to the conflict.

The convicts have denied all allegations of links to criminal networks.

Another of those now sentenced to life imprisonment is a restaurateur and has previously run a restaurant, which has been subjected to a high-profile fatal shooting.

According to the police, he is not in a leading position but has asked the rest for help and has admitted that people from the B-phalanx would be killed when he felt threatened.

According to the police investigation, he is also highly involved in the planning.

He has admitted a lot to the court.

- He claims to have been threatened and beaten and wanted to save his own life, says councilor Ceclia Ahlström, one of the judges in the case.
