The US Secretary of State expressed his concern about the political crisis in Tunisia after President Kais Saied suspended the work of the elected parliament and dismissed the government.

In an interview with Al-Jazeera - to be broadcast later - the US Secretary of State said, "We are concerned about the possibility of Tunisia deviating from its democratic path."

Commenting on the closure of Al Jazeera's office in Tunisia, the US Secretary said, "We are concerned about the targeting of press freedom and we stand with its freedom."

The US Secretary expressed his concerns about the possibility of suppressing any form of freedom of expression in Tunisia, especially the freedom of the press, and stressed that Washington stands firmly with freedom of the press everywhere and, of course, in Tunisia.

On the Iranian issue, he said that Tehran has not yet taken the important decision regarding its return to the nuclear agreement.

On Afghanistan, he considered that the United States has largely succeeded in achieving its goals there, stressing that "there is no military solution to the conflict in this country."

On the Yemeni issue, the US minister said that the solution in Yemen cannot be achieved with the push of a button, praising Saudi Arabia's plan to bring peace there.
