"Facts have proved that people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang are living very well"

Recently, the Italian Institute of Politics, Society and Economics, the Italian Institute of International Diplomacy, and the Italian Eurasian Mediterranean Research Center jointly released a research report entitled "Xinjiang: Understanding Complexity and Building Peace".

The report refutes the lies of some politicians in individual Western countries on the Xinjiang issue in China, and strives to restore the truth.

The organizer of the report, Fabio Massimo Palandi, an expert from the Lorenzo Medici Institute of International Relations in Italy, recently accepted an exclusive interview with our reporter and described the origin of the organization's writing of this report.

In September 2019, Palandi and scholars from many countries visited Urumqi and Kashgar in Xinjiang.

The local long history and culture, unique ethnic customs and beautiful natural environment left a deep impression on him.

“In Xinjiang, Uyghurs and other ethnic minorities enjoy full freedom of religious belief, and the languages and cultures of all ethnic groups are effectively protected and passed on. With the help of the local government, young people who graduated from the education and training center found new jobs.” Palandi Said: "This is my first trip to Xinjiang. I stayed a few more days after finishing the originally planned trip. What I saw and heard was very different from the reports of some Western media." After returning from Xinjiang, Palandi He believes that "it is necessary and responsible to show the real Xinjiang to the world."

In the latest research report, Parandi, together with many experts in the field of China studies and international relations, gathered the first-hand information, research results and data accumulated by experts who have visited Xinjiang, and refuted them with sufficient examples. The anti-China forces in the United States and the West have hyped up Xinjiang-related issues and smeared China.

Since the report was released, the number of internationally renowned scholars, politicians and media personalities supported by signatures has continued to increase.

"Without investigation, there is no right to speak. Facts have proved that people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang are living very well." Palandi said that the Chinese government has explored the experience of effectively eliminating terrorism and religious extremism on the basis of respecting and protecting human rights. , Maintaining the harmony and stability of Xinjiang society.

The so-called reports of some Western countries on the Xinjiang issue are of poor quality and are obviously biased. They lack sufficient and serious investigations. They are obviously out of ulterior motives and try to use and speculate on the so-called Xinjiang human rights issues for geopolitical benefits.

"The Chinese government's implementation of large-scale infrastructure construction has played a decisive role in the local economic and social development." Palandi said, Xinjiang’s highways, railways, airports, and other infrastructures are changing with each passing day, and factory facilities are advanced. Profound change".

Parandi learned that Xinjiang's economic aggregate has grown from 792 billion yuan in 1952 to 1.2 trillion yuan in 2018.

"This is not simple economic growth. Under the premise of ensuring the development of traditional industries such as agriculture, fisheries, and aquaculture, the local economy and society have achieved an innovation-driven modern transformation. Innovation models such as the construction of economic and technological development zones have driven local industrial development and services. The industry is prosperous."

Since the end of 2018, more than 1,200 people including UN officials, foreign envoys to China, media reporters and religious groups have visited Xinjiang.

"Only when you have been to Xinjiang and have a deep understanding of Xinjiang's history, current situation and development context can you understand the real Xinjiang." Palandi said.

Many visitors believe that the ethnic policies implemented by the Chinese government can achieve the goal of de-radicalization from the root, and some countries have also learned from China's relevant policies.

"We hope that more officials and ordinary people in Western countries will understand China's useful explorations in maintaining national unity and combating terrorism."
