China News Service, July 28, reported that the new crown epidemic in the United States continued to rebound. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of the country recommended on the 27th that people who have been fully vaccinated against the new crown should wear masks in indoor public places in high-risk areas. President Biden will also announce new requirements for vaccination.

Experts pointed out that the United States may again have more than 200,000 new cases in a single day.

CDC recommends people who have been vaccinated to wear masks indoors

Since the beginning of 2021, the rate of vaccination in the United States has slowed down, and most people who have not yet been vaccinated say that they do not plan to get the vaccine.

CNN quoted sources as saying that Biden will announce on the 29th that all federal civil servants and contractors must be vaccinated against the new crown, otherwise they will have to undergo regular new crown tests.

When Biden visited Virginia on the 27th, a reporter asked him whether the federal government would require federal civil servants to be vaccinated against the new crown. Biden said: "We are considering it."

On the same day, the CDC issued new guidelines, recommending all people who have completed the new crown vaccination to resume wearing masks in public indoor places in areas where the epidemic is spreading, especially in areas where the delta variant virus is raging.

According to CDC statistics, nearly two-thirds of the counties in the United States meet this standard.

However, the CDC's new guidelines are not binding, and many Americans, especially those in Republican-leaning states, may not necessarily adopt the CDC's recommendations.

Currently, at least eight states in the United States prohibit schools from requiring masks to be worn on campuses.

After the CDC issued new guidelines, Biden said, “Using masks in places where the delta variant virus spreads the most can allow us to avoid lockdowns, store closures, and school closures, and can prevent life from being disrupted in 2020.”

The White House issued a statement saying that Biden plans to announce the "next step" on the 29th to get more Americans vaccinated against the new crown.

New cases in the U.S. may return to 200,000 a day

Former US CDC Director Frieden issued a severe warning on the 27th that in the next few weeks, the United States may again have more than 200,000 new cases in a single day.

Frieden said: "We are entering a difficult period. If the trajectory of the epidemic is similar to that of the United Kingdom, it is likely that we will see as many as 200,000 new cases every day."

However, Frieden added that the “horrible death toll” that occurred during the peak of the epidemic in 2020 will most likely not recur because many vulnerable people have been fully vaccinated.

According to data from Johns Hopkins University, the United States has an average of more than 57,300 new cases per day in the past week.

As of July 27, in the past 7 days, cases in 35 states have increased by 50% or more from the previous week.

The new wave of cases is caused by the rapid spread of the delta variant virus in unvaccinated people across the country.

Frieden said that due to the spread of the delta variant virus, the number of new cases may increase fourfold in the next four to six weeks.
