A source in the central committees of Daraa confirmed the failure of the round of negotiations that was held yesterday evening, Tuesday, with officers from the Syrian regime forces, which raised the ceiling of their demands, most notably the forced displacement of people from the Daraa al-Balad neighborhood (southern Syria).

The source - who requested anonymity - revealed to the German news agency that the round of negotiations ended quickly after an officer from the regime forces demanded to hand over or displace 15 people to northern Syria who are currently living in the Daraa al-Balad neighborhood.

He added that the committee absolutely rejects the process of displacement, as well as the government forces officer demanded the establishment of 9 military points and security detachments in the Daraa al-Balad neighborhood after the agreement reached last Sunday stipulated only 3 points.

On the other hand, a source in the Southern Front affiliated with the Free Syrian Army confirmed that the Syrian regime forces are not seeking a peaceful solution, but rather are setting obstacles to storm the Daraa al-Balad neighborhood and demolish it over the heads of its residents.

The source added that after the failure of the negotiations, large groups of regime forces entered the neighborhoods of Daraa, the station facing the Daraa al-Balad neighborhood, and began bombing operations with rocket launchers on the Daraa al-Balad neighborhood, during which civilians were killed and wounded.

The source stressed that the attack of the regime forces - which may start within the next two days - will ignite all areas of Daraa Governorate, exposing the regime forces to targeting in southern Syria.

It is noteworthy that the Daraa Central Committees consist of tribal sheikhs and dignitaries from the governorate of Daraa, and they intervened in several locations between the regime forces and opposition elements.

The Syrian regime forces pushed thousands of fighters from 4 military divisions reinforced with dozens of tanks and military vehicles a few days ago to the city of Daraa.

Two days ago, a local source reported that the Syrian regime and its opponents in Daraa governorate had reached an agreement to hand over the remaining light weapons to former opponents in exchange for lifting the siege imposed a month ago on "Daraa al-Balad" in the city center, and halting a military operation that the regime had been mobilizing for days.

On June 25, the Syrian regime forces and their affiliated militias imposed a siege on Daraa, a country of 40,000 people, after the former opponents from the region refused to hand over light weapons, as it was in violation of the agreement brokered by Russia three years ago, which stipulated the handing over of heavy and medium weapons to the opposition. Just, keep her light weapon.

During the past few days, Syrians and activists have expressed through social media their solidarity with the people of Daraa, calling for an end to the siege imposed on them by the forces of the Syrian regime and its ally Russia.
