Earlier a meeting with Tikhanovskaya was held by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and his deputy for political affairs Victoria Nuland.

Jake Sullivan, US National Security Adviser, also met with her.

In April, the KGB of Belarus included Tikhanovskaya and more than ten other people in the list of persons involved in terrorism.

A criminal case has been initiated against her in the republic for the preparation of an act of terrorism by an organized group.

Belarusian Prosecutor General Andrei Shved announced that he had received a refusal from Lithuania to extradite Tikhanovskaya.
