Russia has already started "interfering" in the 2022 midterm elections in the United States of America.

This was stated by US President Joe Biden, speaking to the staff of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.

“Judging by today's intelligence report prepared for me by all of you, it is clear what actions Russia is already taking with regard to the 2022 elections and disinformation.

This is truly a violation of our sovereignty, ”Biden said.

Sergei Tsekov, a member of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs from the Republic of Crimea, said that the United States has long adhered to the position that Russia allegedly will certainly interfere in the American elections.

"They will not present any evidence of" interference "again, all this is unfounded ... There is absolutely no real interference in the US elections from our side," the senator explained.

Recall that elections to the US Congress (Senate and House of Representatives) are scheduled for November 8, 2022.

At the moment, the Democratic Party has a majority in the House of Representatives, while Democrats and Republicans are equally in the Senate.

The topic of alleged "Russian interference" in the American elections came to the fore after the 2016 presidential election, when Republican Donald Trump won.

Then his opponent was Hillary Clinton.

There were also accusations that Trump was allegedly in cahoots with the Kremlin, which helped him during the election campaign.

In 2019, the office of Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller summed up the results of the relevant investigation, acknowledging that there was no connection between the Trump team and the Russian authorities.

At the same time, according to American intelligence, Russia allegedly interfered in the campaign through social networks and by compromising the Democratic Party.

The Kremlin, commenting on this report, pointed to the lack of reasoned evidence.

According to the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov, the document has become a waste of American taxpayers' money.

“We still do not accept such accusations.

From the very beginning, we said that no matter what the investigators did, they would not find arguments (in favor of -

RT

) for interference, and President Putin, in particular, spoke about this, because there was no such interference.

Actually, the publication confirms this once again, ”he said.

US officials have claimed foreign interference, including from Russia, in the 2018 midterm elections and the 2020 presidential campaign, but these claims have also not been supported by evidence.

Biden's attitude towards Russia

In addition, the head of the White House spoke negatively about Russia and President Vladimir Putin.

“When I met with Mr. Putin (I realized that. -

RT

) he has a real problem - he runs an economy that has nuclear weapons, oil wells and nothing else.

Nothing else.

What is their economy?

Is it now the eighth largest in the world?

He realizes that he is in a really difficult situation, and this, in my opinion, makes him even more dangerous, ”said Biden.

In addition, the American leader, speaking in front of American intelligence officials, ironically called Vladimir Putin "his very close friend", laughing after this phrase.

“He knows that you are better than his team and that worries him like hell,” he added.

Following the meeting in Geneva on June 16, the Russian leader announced that an agreement had been reached on the return of ambassadors to Moscow and Washington.

In addition, the presidents of Russia and the United States agreed to begin consultations on strategic stability issues at the interdepartmental level, and also discussed cybersecurity issues.

On July 9, the heads of state held a telephone conversation that lasted about an hour.

Joe Biden pointed out that the conversation "went well" and that he was "optimistic."

At the same time, speaking to the staff of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the American leader noted that, despite the rivalry with Russia and China, the United States should build cooperation with these states.

“As you know, at the same time, we must cooperate with countries such as China and Russia, which are our rivals - and, perhaps, in the future, this rivalry will be for life and death - in the context of confronting existential threats, for example , climate change.

In some areas, our interests coincide.

But we cannot comfort ourselves with the thought that this is enough and that we do not need to closely monitor the final goal of the other team.

However, there are issues on which we must cooperate, ”he explained.

According to a member of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs from the Republic of Crimea, Sergei Tsekov, Biden's statement regarding Russia is at odds with reality.

“Only a country with enormous intellectual and production potential can maintain a high level of nuclear weapons.

He forgot about our agriculture - it is developing successfully with us.

Many other enterprises are developing in our country.

Yes, we have large reserves of energy resources, we need to develop them.

We do not just supply them, we recycle them.

Let them not relax too much: Russia was, is and will be a great industrial, economic power, "the interlocutor of RT emphasized.

In turn, State Duma Deputy Ruslan Balbek recalled that Barack Obama, during his tenure as President of the United States, also tried to convince the whole world that the Russian economy is weak, and sanctions will only aggravate its situation.

“None of these statements have been fulfilled, moreover, the products that we previously bought abroad are now being produced at home.

A significant leap has been made in agriculture and industry, and the very development of Crimea shows that our economy, even after receiving powerful blows from the West, is firmly on its feet.

So the US leaders get excited in their statements, voice their desires, and not the real state of affairs, "he said in an interview with RT.

At the same time, Dmitry Novikov, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, noted that Russia's nuclear weapons are a very important element of world security.

“The presence of nuclear weapons in Russia is, of course, a favorable circumstance for our country and for the world as a whole, ultimately for the United States too, because if the United States were a monopolist, then their hotheads could plunge the world into very dangerous processes. , in very dangerous phenomena, and in any war with the use of nuclear weapons there can be no winner, ”he said.
