Rachida Dati is indicted for "passive corruption by a person invested with a public elective mandate within an international organization" and "concealment of abuse of power".

Concretely, the judges suspect the current mayor of the 7th arrondissement of Paris of having received 900,000 euros in fees while she was a lawyer between 2010 and 2012.

His defense pleads the prescription of possible offenses

This sum was paid by the Dutch subsidiary of Renault-Nissan, for consulting activities

with Carlos Ghosn

, boss of the automotive group at the time.

But at the time, Rachida Dati was also a Member of the European Parliament.

Justice therefore seeks to know if such income corresponds to specific activities or if it is a job of convenience which could have masked lobbying activities which are prohibited for MEPs.

For her part, Rachida Dati has always denied any irregularity in these contracts.

His defense team also pleads that the statute of limitations for these possible crimes has been acquired since 2017, the National Financial Prosecutor's Office having only opened the investigation in 2019.
