July 27, 2021 The Como local police, since new thunderstorms are expected in the next few hours, has renewed the invitation not to leave the house unless strictly necessary and not to venture into places at risk, where landslides and floods have occurred.

The invitation came at the end of a technical discussion that took place in the late afternoon in the Prefecture of Como in order to coordinate interventions for damage caused by bad weather.

Currently, the former Lariana state road remains closed at Blevio: the carriageway has been cleared of debris but there are still slopes at risk. The SS 340 Regina is open only as far as Laglio: a little further on, in Brienno, there have been various landslides, including large ones. The A9 motorway was also reopened, closed in both directions in the afternoon between the Como centro and Lago di Como exits. The provincial roads in the Intelvi Valley have also been reopened. The bridges over the Breggia stream, on the border with Cernobbio, are open to transit only to residents.

The lake level is rising, but a flood is not expected in the next few hours: bus and navigation services have suffered interruptions and suppressions.

Meanwhile, Bishop Oscar Cantoni sent a message to the flood victims: "I join the pain of the various populations who have been hit by the intense storms. I am particularly close to the displaced people and to those who have lost their possessions. Thanks to all the rescuers and the forces of order committed in the territory. Let us pray to the Lord that he may give everyone the strength to live this moment of trial with faith and that no one lacks the solidarity of the brothers.
