The solemn ceremony took place immediately after the announcement of the voting results of the National Assembly.
"... I, the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, vow to be completely loyal to the Motherland, the people, the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and make every effort to successfully fulfill the tasks entrusted by the party, state and people," said Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
Before becoming president, the politician served as the prime minister of the republic.
Thus, he became the first leader in the history of modern Vietnam to lead a government before being elected head of state.
