The French Sarah-Léonie Cysique, beaten in the final by the Kosovar Nora Gjakova, on Monday won the silver medal in the judo tournament of the Tokyo Olympic Games in the -57 kg category, the 4th medal of the French delegation at the Olympic Games .

The Cysique medal is already the third for French judo after the bronze won on Saturday by Luka Mkheidze in the -60 kg category and the silver won on Sunday by Amandine Buchard in -52 kg, to which must be added the sword gold with Romain Cannone.

The Frenchwoman was disqualified for dangerous action, for herself, falling on the head during a movement initiated by her opponent, the Kosovar Nora Gjakova.

The Frenchwoman should have turned in her fall, at the risk of conceding an ippon or a waza-ari.

In the final, Cysique therefore suffered the law of Kosovar Nora Gjakova, third in the last World Championships and N.3 in the world rankings.

Gjakova, for her part, brings her second Olympic title in judo in Tokyo to her country, after that of Distria Krasniqi on Saturday in -48 kg.

Before her defeat in the final, the young Cysique (23) had achieved a feat in the previous round by beating the tournament favorite, the Canadian Jessica Klimkait, world champion and world No. 1 in the Golden Score.

The Canadian was sanctioned with a third penalty for false attack and eliminated.

The Frenchwoman, and the members of the France team present at the Nippon Budokan, had two seconds of fear when the referee of the fight mistakenly designated Klimkait of the arm as being victorious of the fight.

But it was the Frenchwoman who won, under the eyes of the visiting IOC President Thomas Bach.
