Lebanese President Michel Aoun on Monday tasked ex-Prime Minister Najib Mikati with forming a new government after the failure of his two predecessors to set up a cabinet supposed to launch reforms to get Lebanon out of a socio-economic crisis unpublished.

During binding parliamentary consultations led by Michel Aoun, Najib Mikati received the support of 72 parliamentarians, while 42 deputies refrained from appointing him.

On July 15, Saad Hariri threw in the towel after his failure to form a government nine months after his appointment.
