The police and rescue service were alerted to a single accident on highway 31 south of Korsberga on Monday afternoon.
A 75-year-old woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries, but her life could not be saved.
Another person, a man, traveling in the car was slightly injured.
The cause of the accident is still unclear.
The car has been seized, according to police.
Relatives of the deceased woman have been notified.
