FC Barcelona and Brazilian striker Neymar have reached an agreement to end “amicably” the financial disputes between them, the Catalan club announced on Monday, without revealing the amount of the transaction.

Several disputes were open between the club and the player around the extension bonus promised to "Ney" by Barça before his record transfer to PSG in 2017 for 222 million euros.

"The club and the player have signed an agreement on a settlement in order to put an end to legal proceedings between the two parties," the Blaugrana club said in a statement.

In total, three proceedings opposed "Ney" and Barça before the industrial tribunal and one before the civil justice, recalls the club.

The PSG striker, who played for Barça from 2013 to 2017, took the club to court to demand the full payment of the premium of 64.4 million euros gross negotiated with the club in 2016 in exchange for the extension of his contract until 2021.

The club had paid Neymar a first installment of 20.75 million before his departure for Paris, but had not paid him the rest afterwards.

He himself had attacked the player so that he returned the first payment.

In June 2020, Spanish justice dismissed the Brazilian striker and ordered him to reimburse 6.79 million euros to his former club.

According to the Barcelona court that ruled this case, by terminating his contract before the end of it, Neymar "did not have the right to touch the sum" he requested.

The player had started another procedure to claim three million euros from FC Barcelona corresponding to his last month at the club before signing for Paris SG.
