More than a thousand firefighters and other first responders have been deployed in southern France to fight a major forest fire.
A major wildfire is also raging on the Italian island of Sardinia: hundreds of people had to leave their homes there.
The fire in southern France rages between Narbonne and Carcassonne.
So far, about 8.5 square kilometers has gone up in flames.
Fire-fighting aircraft were also deployed to fight the fire.
Because high-voltage lines were also affected, power outages occurred in various places in France, Spain and even Portugal on Saturday.
In France, about 100,000 households were affected by this, network company RTE reported.
There have been no reports of casualties so far.
Italian village completely evacuated
