She pointed out that, according to recent developments in the policies of issuing residence visas, residence visas for five years and 10 years can be issued for specific categories and according to certain conditions.

The UAE government made it possible to obtain a residence visa for 10 years without a sponsor, for the following categories: Investors in public investments within the country with a value of at least 10 million dirhams, talented people, including scientists and creators of culture and art, inventors, elite owners, executives and doctors and specialists.

It also made it possible to obtain a residence visa for a period of five years, automatically renewed, for real estate investors, entrepreneurs, and outstanding students, and the scope of the visa extends to students' families as well.

In 2018, the UAE government adopted a system that allows the granting of a long-term visa to retired residents over the age of 55.

Under the new system, a retired expatriate is granted a five-year residence visa, which is automatically renewed if any of the following conditions are met: The retired person owns an investment in real estate worth two million dirhams, or his financial savings are not less than one million dirhams, or proof of income of at least 20,000 dirhams per month.

The Abu Dhabi government also launched the “Thriving in Abu Dhabi” program, to raise awareness of long-term golden residency permits, and ways to obtain UAE citizenship for talented individuals, students, entrepreneurs and investors, within the main sectors in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

The program enables talented people, researchers, students, doctors, specialists, innovators and athletes, investors in the economic and real estate sectors and start-up companies, to obtain long-term residency that grants them and their families residence visas for five or 10 years.

The program identified the candidate categories: investors, entrepreneurs, high school students and university graduates, and those with specialized talents, including doctors and scientists, innovators (culture and arts), innovators, executives, educators (in priority areas), and professionals in the field. athletes, Ph.D. holders, and engineers.

Each category within the Golden Residency Program “Thriving in Abu Dhabi” has its own set of conditions, for obtaining five or 10-year visas, and the visa includes the husband, wife and children, and also includes obtaining a visa for domestic workers in accordance with the relevant regulations.

The “Retirement in Dubai” visa program allows obtaining a residence permit for five years, subject to renewal.

It targets retirees who are at least 55 years old, who meet one of the following financial options: having a monthly income of 20,000 dirhams, a pension or from the previous place of work, having savings of one million dirhams in a fixed deposit for three years, investing in a property that is not mortgaged A value of two million dirhams, or a fixed deposit of no less than two million dirhams for a period of three years, and a real estate that is not mortgaged.
