This week, the police had an operation at Skeppsbron in the Old Town, against cyclists and electric park cyclists who rode two in the same vehicle and rode red.

During the half-hour-long operation, the police estimate that about 50 people were stopped because they broke the rules.

There were so many that the police did not even have time to fine everyone.

New offenders appeared at the same time as the police issued fines, which resulted in a verbal reprimand to the drivers who the police did not have time to fine.

Of the 50 people who were stopped, 14 were fined.

- The effort is to get fewer dead and injured in traffic, but there is also a need to inform.

The goal is not to fine as many as possible, but to inform, says external officer Fredrik Ehrström at Södermalmspolisen.

Ends up in the debit register

If you go towards red, the fine is SEK 1,500, and for those who travel more than one, it costs SEK 500 per person.

In addition to the fine, you end up in the debit register for five years.

- Something I do not think so many skiers are aware of is that you do not "only" get a fine if you do not follow the rules, but that you also end up in the load register, says Fredrik Ehrström.
