Former US President Donald Trump appeared as he delivered a speech to his supporters on Saturday, in which he touched on the issue of Afghanistan and the Taliban movement.

Trump, 75, recalled an alleged phone call between him and Taliban leader Hebatullah Akhundzadeh, but he could not remember his name, so he said: Let's call him "Muhammad."

Trump used his platform to launch an attack on Democrats and Republicans alike in his country, as he again alleged fraud in the presidential election, in which he was defeated by Democrat Joe Biden.

Trump touched on the issue of Afghanistan, and said, "During my presidency I spoke with the Taliban, specifically with the leader, let's call him 'Muhammad'. I told him: O Muhammad, we are leaving (Afghanistan), but we will come back and hit you harder."

Taliban leader Hebatullah Akhundzadeh also described him as a rude person even though he was trying to make himself a nice person.

Trump had decided to withdraw his country's forces in the final months of his mandate from Iraq and Afghanistan, while reducing the number of US forces in each country to 2,500 by January 15.

Joe Biden won the November 3 presidential election against his opponent, Trump, and officially took office on January 20.
