25 July 2021 With the latest departures, the number of Italians who went on holiday in July rose to 14.8 million, an increase of 9% compared to the same period last year. This is what emerges from the Coldiretti / Ixè survey which, however, highlights values far from pre-Covid levels, with 2.8 million fewer Italian vacationers during the month. What is also worrying is the lack of foreign tourism which, after initial positive expectations, has experienced a sharp slowdown due to - specifies Coldiretti - the resumption of infections throughout Europe.

A fear that has also changed the plans of a fair slice of compatriots despite the arrival of the green pass. If just 1.5 million people have decided to spend their summer holidays abroad where constraints, inconveniences and difficulties multiply, as many as 33% of vacationers will remain this year within their region, according to the Coildiretti survey / Ixè.

The beach - explains Coldiretti - remains the favorite destination, it holds tourism in the mountains and that of proximity with the rediscovery of small villages and minor centers in the Italian countryside, as an alternative to the most popular tourist destinations, while the presence in the cities collapses. The majority of Italians traveling - concludes Coldiretti - have chosen to reopen their second homes, or to stay in those of relatives and friends or for rent, but in the ranking of preferences there are pensions and hotels and very popular are the farmhouses which, often located in isolated areas, in family structures with a limited number of beds and at the table and large spaces in the green are perhaps the places where it is easier to ensure compliance with safety measures to defend against contagion outside the home.
