Nyborgstjärnen, which is located in central Arvidsjaur, has become a popular place to fish.

Since PRO, the National Organization of Pensioners, took over responsibility for planting fish, many young people want to try their luck at fishing - including Hugo Harr.

- They are kind and plant fish so we can fish.

When it was fishing premiere, I got a rainbow of 1.5 kilos.

The fun thing about fishing is that you get to feel the jerk in the rod, he says.

"I'll take care of me later"

It was in 2019 that PRO took over the right to use Nyborgstjärn after receiving the question from Arvidsjaur municipality.

The agreement is for three years and the main sponsors are Framtidsbanken and Arvidsjaurs Allmänning.

- I thought it was interesting that we would take over the responsibility.

The demand from Arvidsjaur municipality was that we should invest in children and young people.

Then it is good to have a good relationship with the young people because they are the ones who will take care of me the day I need help at the health center or the nursing home, says Gunnar Eriksson, PRO's fishing group, with a twinkle in his eye.

A total of 1.2 tons of rainbow trout

This spring, PRO in Arvidsjaur planted 600 kilos of rainbows and in the autumn, the same amount will be planted.

Children and young people under the age of 16 can fish for free and keep a maximum of two fish per day.

- Most pensioners in PRO have grandchildren who do not live in Arvidsjaur.

We think it's fun to do something for other people's children.

Then I'm happy for the positive response.

When you walk through the community, everyone says hello and goodbye, says Gunnar Eriksson, PRO's fishing group.
