Tide of Guanlan丨Roof of the World Protection Priority

The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is the largest plateau in my country and the highest in the world. It is called the "Roof of the World", "Water Tower of Asia" and "The Third Pole of the Earth."

When visiting Qinghai last month, General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized that protecting the ecological environment of Qinghai is the "big one in the country."

During this visit to Tibet, ecological protection was also the focus of the general secretary. The first stop of the visit on July 21 was to look at the ecology.

The protection of the world is the first

Nyingchi is located in southeastern Tibet, with an average elevation of 3,100 meters. There are many snowy peaks, rivers, and a pleasant climate. It is called "Snowy Jiangnan".

The turquoise Niyang River flows through the city and then joins the Yarlung Zangbo River, which is the largest tributary on the north side of the plateau river.

On the morning of July 21st, General Secretary Xi Jinping drove to the Niyang River Bridge to learn about the ecological and environmental protection of the Yarlung Zangbo River and the Niyang River Basin.

Tibet is an important ecological security barrier for China, and it occupies an important position in the overall strategic situation of the party and the country.

When visiting Tibet ten years ago, Xi Jinping pointed out that ecological protection in Tibet is an important issue, and the clear water and blue sky of Tibet must be well protected.

Last year, the General Secretary put forward the Party’s strategy for governing Tibet in the new era at the Seventh Tibet Work Conference of the Central Committee. Among the “10 musts” included “must adhere to ecological protection first.”

The general secretary emphasized that protecting the ecology of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is the greatest contribution to the survival and development of the Chinese nation. It is necessary to protect the life, vegetation, waters and mountains of the plateau and build the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau into a highland of national and international ecological civilization.

In recent years, China has comprehensively carried out ecological protection and restoration in key areas such as Tibet's ecological security barrier, the source of the Three Rivers, and the Qilian Mountains, effectively curbing the ecological deterioration of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.

Based on the plateau green development

Towering snow-capped mountains, turquoise rivers, pink peach groves... This spring, the 19th Linzhi Peach Blossom Festival is here as scheduled.

Enjoying peach blossoms, tasting food, and experiencing Tibetan customs. In Nyingchi, tourists can not only see the plateau of flowers, but also eat Tibetan meals and live in Tibetan folklore.

"Green water and green mountains are Jinshan Yinshan, and ice and snow are also Jinshan Yinshan." There is a vivid practice here.

The resident population of Linzhi is about 240,000, and the annual tourist reception is nearly 9 million, which is more than 30 times that of the resident population. The total annual tourism revenue has reached 7.2 billion yuan.

The local area is transforming its ecological advantages and resource advantages into development advantages and economic advantages, promoting the deep integration of rural revitalization, urban and rural development, ecological protection, etc. with the tourism industry, forming a new pattern of tourism leading high-quality development.

In August last year, the General Secretary emphasized at the Seventh Tibet Work Conference of the Central Committee that it is necessary to form a virtuous cycle long-term mechanism for building a good ecology and sharing a good life.

In March of this year, when he participated in the deliberation of the Qinghai delegation, he said that it is necessary to promote the adherence to ecological priority, promote high-quality development, and create an organic combination of high-quality life to complement each other.

The ultimate goal of protection priority is to satisfy people of all ethnic groups' yearning for a better life.

In July this year, the 20th meeting of the Central Committee for Comprehensively Deepening Reform deliberated and approved the "Plan for Ecological Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau."

The meeting emphasized that we must adhere to green development, based on the unique resource endowments of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, identify suitable economic development models, vigorously develop plateau characteristic industries, and embark on an eco-friendly, green, low-carbon, and high-quality development path with plateau characteristics.

China takes the role, the world has a vision

In recent years, climate change, loss of biodiversity, increasing desertification, and frequent extreme weather events have brought severe challenges to human survival and development.

At the leaders’ climate summit held in April this year, Xi Jinping proposed for the first time to jointly build a community of human and natural life.

In 2017, the second comprehensive scientific investigation and research on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau was launched. The general secretary said in his congratulatory letter that carrying out this scientific investigation and research will have a great impact on the sustainable development of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, the construction of national ecological civilization, and the promotion of global ecological environment protection. important influence.

He hoped that the comprehensive scientific expedition team members would make new contributions to protecting the last pure land in the world and building the beautiful Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.

General Secretary Xi Jinping has repeatedly put forward requirements on the ecological protection of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, such as increasing the control and treatment of air pollution sources and land desertification on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, and increasing the protection of grasslands, wetlands, and natural forests. This has pointed out the work of ecological protection in Tibet. Up the direction.

Today Tibet has 11 national-level nature reserves, 4 national-level scenic spots, 3 national geological parks, 9 national forest parks, and 22 national wetland parks. Natural reserves account for one-third of the area of the region. More than one.

Today Tibet has become one of the regions with the best ecological environment in the world.

At the Seventh Tibet Work Forum of the Central Committee in August last year and the 20th meeting of the Central Committee for Comprehensively Deepening Reform in July this year, General Secretary Xi Jinping used the same sentence to express his firm attitude towards the ecological protection of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau: Yes. Responsible to history, to the people, and to the world.

This is a clear Chinese proposition, and it is also a courageous China.
