July 24, 2021 - Week end with red and orange 'stamps' for the heat. In fact, high temperatures are expected in some Italian cities with possible repercussions on health Red stamp for Perugia, which indicates emergency conditions with possible negative effects on the health of healthy and active people, and not only on subgroups at risk. Instead, five cities with orange stickers (level 2, which indicates the hot risk for the health of the most susceptible population) for Saturday and Sunday, which, however, will rise to 8 on Sunday.

This is the latest bulletin from the Ministry of Health on heat waves for this weekend, and which examines the situation in 27 urban centers. Meanwhile, what is beginning is indicated by meteorologists as a "hot" weekend but which will also bring intense thunderstorms and hailstorms from Sunday, according to the experts of iLMeteo.it. In detail, with respect to health risks, the heat wave bulletin indicates a red dot for Perugia. Two days, Saturday and Sunday, of orange stickers for 5 cities: Bologna, Florence, Frosinone, Rieti and Rome. To which Campobasso, Latina and Pescara are added, for the single day of Sunday, always with orange level.

In addition to the heat, the African anticyclone will also give Italy extreme bad weather in some regions. According to experts in the coming days, the sub-tropical anticyclone will lose power in the North where the infiltration of cooler air from the Atlantic Ocean will give rise to storms that will hit most of the regions, also in the next week. Only the Center-South will be protected from the African monster and in fact here the temperatures will begin to rise reaching peaks of 35-36 ° C in Tuscany, Lazio, then Puglia and the Lucanian coasts and even 42 ° C in Sardinia. On the downpour front, from Sunday, sometimes exceptional hailstorms can also reach the flat areas of Piedmont and Lombardy, such as Turin and Milan. In the following days, the storm phenomena will also extend to the rest of the northern regions.

Next week Italy divided in half between sun and hail

In the next few days an Italy is expected to be literally split in two from the meteorological point of view, right in the highlight of the summer. The cause is to be found in the contrast between a cyclonic vortex descending from Northern Europe, which will cause severe storms and hailstorms, and the African anticyclonic promontory, a real oven, ready to heat up some regions with very high temperatures. In fact, between Monday 26 and Wednesday 28, a decidedly unstable phase will emerge, especially for our northern regions. Due to the thermal contrasts, thunderstorms could be particularly violent.

According to current data, the areas most at risk would be, in addition to the Alpine arc, also the plains of Piedmont, Lombardy, Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia, areas where we do not exclude the possibility of extreme weather events such as storms, hailstorms and strong gusts of wind. Together with the storms we will have, as is normal, a drop in temperatures, at least temporary refreshment, but Italy will be split in two. A completely different speech, in fact, for the rest of the country, which will still be able to enjoy the protection of the African anticyclone: there will therefore be substantial atmospheric stability in the rest of the Center and in the South and, above all, still very hot, with temperatures widely above 36 ° C. To underline the data concerning Puglia, where the mercury column could push up to and beyond 40 ° C. Subsequently, in the very last days of July, the high pressure should probably regain the lost positions, extending again also to the North and thus guaranteeing sun and heat again on all over the country.
