One Palestinian was killed and more than 300 others injured in clashes between Israeli security forces and Palestinians in the West Bank.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced on Saturday, one day after the clashes, that a 17-year-old was shot in the hospital.

According to the Red Crescent, 320 Palestinians were injured, 21 of them by live ammunition, 68 by rubber bullets and numerous others by tear gas.

Hundreds of Palestinians gathered in the village of Beita near Nablus on Friday afternoon to demonstrate against the nearby Eviatar outpost, which Israeli settlers had illegally established in early May.

According to the army, the demonstrators threw stones at security forces, two soldiers were slightly injured.

Israel is examining the settlers' claims

The settlement was built in violation of international law and Israeli regulations.

After weeks of tension, the settlers had left the outpost in early July following an arrangement with Prime Minister Naftali Bennett.

Since then, the erected buildings have been guarded by the army.

The Israel Defense Ministry is currently reviewing ownership of the area.

Should it decide in favor of the settlers, they could settle there permanently.

The mayor of Beita has already stated that there will be "clashes and demonstrations" as long as the Israelis "stay on our land".

Under international law, all Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank with around 475,000 residents are illegal.

The Palestinians, who claim the disputed land around the Eviatar outpost, are calling for the settlement to be permanently evacuated.
