In Paris and other French cities, thousands of people demonstrated again against the tightening of the corona rules.

The TV news channel BFM showed pictures that there were riots in Paris on the sidelines of the protest - the police had used tear gas, the broadcaster said.

A week ago, according to the Interior Ministry, around 114,000 people took to the streets across the country.

The center government of Prime Minister Jean Castex had taken stricter measures in view of an increase in the corona numbers.

According to Castex, the country with around 67 million people is fighting a fourth corona wave.

France plans vaccination for health workers 

It was only on Friday that the National Assembly, as the lower house of parliament, approved a bill that provides for the expansion of the obligation to provide evidence of a negative corona test, vaccination or recovery. Now the Senate, as the second chamber of parliament, has to approve the new regulations so that from August the proof is also required for the use and visit of long-distance trains, bars, restaurants and shopping centers. The members of the National Assembly also gave their approval in the first reading of a planned compulsory vaccination for health workers.
