TASS reports.

According to the Mexican leader, the idea is to create an analogue of the EU, taking into account the history and identity of the region.

“If we think in the same vein, it is impossible to exclude the replacement of the Organization of American States (OAS) with a truly independent organization, which will not be someone's servant, but will act as a mediator at the request and with the consent of the conflicting parties in matters relating to the rights a person, ”he said.

At the same time, Obrador acknowledged the utopian nature of his proposal, and added that if you do not set "higher goals for the future", then nothing can be achieved.

He also called on the countries of the community not to close the economy from other states and noted the importance of dialogue with the United States.

In March, the Mexican leader held talks with US President Joe Biden.

As part of the dialogue, the heads of state discussed cooperation in the fight against coronavirus, climate problems and interaction at the border.
