According to the police, the find was made by a passer-by in the afternoon.
- The caller discovered the animal on the road, but quickly discovered that the turtle weighed too much to be taken care of.
It must have weighed over 50 kilos, says Sara Andersson, the police's spokesperson.
A police patrol went to the scene and they were soon able to locate the owner who retrieved the escaped turtle.
- Some turtles are chipped, so that may have been the reason why the owner could be found, says Sara Andersson.
How the turtle was able to escape is unclear.
- But turtles can be significantly faster than you think, says Sara Andersson.
The case has now been sent to the county administrative board, which is in charge of animal supervision.
