“The House of Representatives calls for continued interaction between the United States and Slovenia in order to further strengthen bilateral relations and achieve common goals and interests around the world,” the resolution says.
Gosar believes that the United States and Slovenia have a similar position on pressing issues, including energy security and cybersecurity.
In addition, Ljubljana is a supporter of democracy and an important ally of Washington in Central Europe - a significant geographic region for the United States, the congressman said.
Explaining the importance of cooperation with Slovenia, he stressed that Russia and China allegedly "made a concerted effort to influence" American partners in Central Europe in order to sow discord between these countries and the rest of NATO and the EU.
The Congressman also noted that Slovenia had a significant impact on the implementation of international policies to promote peace, stability and development in Europe, Africa, the Middle East.
The politician also recalled that in 2021 Slovenia became the head of the EU Council - one of the main decision-making bodies in Europe.
Earlier, Gosar issued a statement that under the leadership of Ljubljana, Europe will "resist Chinese and Russian influence."
