In Liperi, North Karelia, the rescue service is extinguishing a wildfire that is currently on fire at the logging opening.

According to the on-duty firefighter of the North Karelia Rescue Department, the alarm from the wildfire came at about half past eight in the evening.

The fire that had started in connection with the forest work had spread to an area of ​​about half an hectare.

The Rescue Department’s Twitter account describes the shutdown work as “slow and sweaty”.

According to the firefighter, the firefighting contract has been difficult because the ground at the fire site is dry.

In addition, the fire site is 400 meters from the nearest road and the water used for extinguishing must be brought to the site by tanker ten kilometers away.

According to the firefighter, the firefighting work will take several more hours due to the challenging conditions.
