A 26-year-old man was shot dead during the night from Friday to Saturday in a city in the northern districts of Marseille considered a high place of drug trafficking, we learned from a police source on Saturday.

The facts took place around 11:30 p.m. Cité des Oliviers in the 13th arrondissement.

Called by residents, the police discovered the body of a man covered with a sheet around which were around fifty people.

The 26-year-old victim was lying in front of the entrance to his home. His body showed several bullet holes, including head and abdomen, and more than a dozen 9mm caliber holsters were found on the ground. The police began a neighborhood investigation to find possible witnesses to the assault. "These are targeted shootings," said the police, judging however premature to speak of settling of score, the victim being known for crimes unrelated to drug trafficking.

The criminal brigade of the Marseille judicial police was seized of the investigation by the Marseille prosecutor's office.

The Bouches-du-Rhône and Marseille in particular have been experiencing an outbreak of violence since the beginning of the summer and this homicide brings to eight the number of people killed since June 25 (out of 15 since the beginning of the year), the most of them related to drug trafficking.
