As the Tokyo Olympics were held without spectators, about 30,000 volunteers were neglected, local media reported.

The Tokyo Shimbun reported today (22nd) that the Tokyo Metropolitan Government offered to inform volunteers who have lost their roles of 'new activities', but did not contact them until two days before the opening.

Earlier this month, when it was decided to hold the Tokyo Olympics without fans in a five-party consultation attended by the Japanese government, the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Organizing Committee, and the International Olympic Committee, the duty of volunteers to guide the way disappeared, and the large-scale cheering scheduled near the stadium The event was also canceled and the volunteers who were supposed to support it were no longer needed.

As a result, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government announced the cancellation of the activities to about 30,000 volunteers and decided to contact them again with new activities such as 'transmitting Tokyo's charm', but there has been no notification until just before the opening.

It is reported that the Tokyo Metropolitan Government has clarified that "the decision was made without spectators, and it is taking time to respond."
