“If such powerful forces as the United States and some of Germany's partners in the European Union have not been able to put pressure on Germany so far, then, I hope, I proceed from the assumption that this situation will continue in the future,” he said.

According to the senator, Germany is behaving very correctly in this matter.

“In general, it manifests itself as a reliable partner, focusing on its own national interests.

This is the only correct approach.

Russia is behaving in the same way in this project.

If and when Ukraine begins to behave the way Germany and Russia behave - that is, economically, not politically, and act as a reliable partner - then there will be no limits for our cooperation, ”Kosachev stressed.

He also added that for a reliable partnership, Ukraine must be competitive as a transit country, in particular, it must have an appropriate technical condition of the pipeline system and competitive conditions for transit gas pumping.

“Today's statement is purely political, not economic, and it runs counter to the principles of a market economy, with the formats of cooperation that Russia and Germany are successfully working out.

Here Ukraine will only have to learn to behave as a reliable, predictable competitive partner, ”the senator concluded.

Earlier, the head of the Ukrainian GTS Operator, Serhiy Makogon, said that the Ukrainian side hopes that the European Commission will stop the certification of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.
